The Vanishing Series is a serialized five-book domestic thriller following ordinary people forced to disappear to survive. It deals frankly but without "violence porn" with domestic violence, human trafficking, and abuses of power, but its arc is one of agency, found family, and recovery — not victimhood. Real-world crisis communication and escape strategies are woven into the fiction; the books have been described by early readers as bingeable, as well as compelling and quietly useful.

Strong fit for: adult fiction collections, book club kits, domestic violence awareness programming, Women's History Month displays, "binge read" or series-fiction promotions.

Phyllis McCoy Horne is available for library programming during The Vanishing Bus Tour beginning June 2026 and beyond. The tour focus June - mid NOvember is the Southeast US and a tour schedule is available.
